Three of our master’s students presented their work at the XXXIX North and Northeast Physics Meeting (EFNNE), an event organized by the Brazilian Physical Society (SBF) in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. NOS and UFRPE were very well represented, especially by the honorable mention for Best Poster awarded to the student Luiza Paffer.
In total, 600 papers were presented and only 38 students received awards — including a participant from NOS. This achievement reflects the student’s academic commitment and the seriousness with which NOS approaches science and research. We are very proud of this recognition!
NOS welcomed students from various schools in the municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho for the Career Fair of the Cabo de Santo Agostinho Academic Unit (UACSA). During the visit, the students had the opportunity to explore our laboratory's infrastructure, as well as various operational experimental techniques and setups.
The activity provided them with direct contact with scientific research, illustrating its practical applications and encouraging the training of future professionals in the field.
Professor Dr. José Holanda was a highlight of the opening ceremony for Quantum Science Week, held this Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the 'Espaço Ciência' Museum in Pernambuco. At the organization's invitation, the researcher delivered a lecture on Spintronics, his primary area of expertise, titled "Spintronics: the future of quantum information technology."
In his presentation, Dr. Holanda addressed the electron spin, a fundamental quantum property that is at the forefront of developing a new generation of electronic devices. The lecture highlighted how harnessing this characteristic could lead to the creation of more powerful, faster, and energy-efficient technologies, paving the way for the future of computing and information processing.
The event, pictured alongside, was coordinated by Professor Cleiton Batista.
